Aiki-jitsu

Aiki-jitsu combines aspects of several martial arts (such as ju-jitsu, karate, judo, aikido). Although this art is often looked at as a means for 'self-defense' it is much more than that. Our instructors are well versed in these arts

Training in this art is demanding on the body, but once you learn the basics of falling and rolling you will be well on your way. We always ease new people into the class. However, in just a few short weeks you will amaze yourself! Aiki-Jitsu is a very self-rewarding martial art when the effort is put forth. You will find yourself performing judo throws in no time. Whether your interest is in MMA or to simply protect yourself this training is for you. We will challenge you and then you will challenge yourself.

Aiki-Jitsu is a martial art from Japan, used on the battlefield by Samurai warriors. The basic concept is to use the soft to overcome the strong. Aiki-Jitsu techniques were derived from sword movements.

Aiki-jitsu comes from the war torn era of Japans feudal period, Aiki-Jitsu is a devastatingly effective martial art and at the same time a path towards self improvement. The highest ideals of the samurai are embodied in this art form, ideals like honor loyalty, truth, respect. Aikijitsu is a Japanese martial arts system that was developed from the Samurai's need for a way to defend themselves when unarmed. Originally, it was taught only to the sons and daughters of the Takeda family, one of the most famous of the many powerful families from Japan.

One of the most well known students of Aiki-Jitsu was Morei Ueshiba who went on to develop the defensive parts of Aikijitsu and Jujutsu into the modern art of Aikido, modern in concept, but based on a thousand years of tradition.
