Karate has been rewarding to me in so many ways. Physically, I feel a lot stronger and more in control. The unexpected bonus is that somehow, the physical benefits have permeated into the rest of my life, so I feel better emotionally, psychologically and even spiritually. I practice yoga for the same reasons. Yoga and karate complement and balance each other beautifully. The main difference between the two is that in karate, you receive much more concrete reminders to stay focused!

Martial arts thoughts

Karate has allowed me to actually look forward to my forties. I’m getting in better shape every day. I have met some of the greatest people both in the dojo and at tournaments, as well as many of the parents of the kids that are taking Karate. I have found that I learn so much more about the art by teaching the little that I know to others. It allows me to really focus on the things I need to learn by helping others with the same issues, which is a life lesson that applies to work, home, family and friends. For accomplishments I have won two gold and 1 bronze meddles at the AAU tournament, which is far more than I ever imagined.
